[tp no_translate]Lorena Boix Alonso is Director for Digital Society, Trust and Cybersecurity in the Directorate-General for Communications Networks Content and Technology (DG CONNECT), at the European Commission. She is a member of the Executive and Management Board of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and as well as the Commission representative in the Governing Board of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) and a member of the Management Board of the Computer Emergency Response Team for the EU Institutions (CERT EU).
In the context of the Horizon Europe Programme, she co-chairs the Cluster 1 “Health” and Cluster 3 ‘’Civil security for society’’ and is as well a member of the board Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) Joint Undertaking.
Formerly, she was Acting Director for Policy Strategy and Outreach and Head of Unit for Policy Implementation and Planning, in DG CONNECT at the European Commission.
Previously, she was Deputy Head of Cabinet of Vice President Neelie Kroes, Commissioner for the Digital Agenda. During Ms Kroes’ mandate as Commissioner for Competition, she commenced in October 2004 as a member of her cabinet and became Deputy Head of Cabinet in May 2008.
She joined the European Commission Directorate-General for Competition in 2003.

[tp no_translate]Born in 1978 in Drobeta Turnu Severin, Romania, Cristian Busoi has a PhD in Public Health and Health Management. He graduated in medicine at the “Carol Davila” University in Bucharest, in law at the Titu Maiorescu University in Bucharest, and in diplomacy at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute in Bucharest. His political career started in 1996 when, as a young student, he became a member of the National Liberal Party. Eight years later, he entered the Romanian Parliament as Member of the Committee for Health and Family and in 2013 became President of the National Health Insurance. His dedication in the Romanian Parliament convinced electors to vote him in 2007 as their representative in the European Parliament. He is a Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine and the Euronest Delegation. He is also a substitute Member on the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection, the Delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Delegation for Relations with India.

[tp no_translate]Stefano da Empoli is the president and principal policy analyst at I-Com, the Institute for Competitiveness, a think tank based in Rome and Brussels which he founded in 2005. He currently teaches political economy and economic policy at the Roma Tre University, in Rome. Stefano is a graduate of the Coripe Consortium for Research and Continuing Education in Economics (Piemonte, Italy), where he received a master’s degree in economics and George Mason University (Virginia, USA) where he obtained his MA (Economics). Stefano has served in key advisory or expert positions on a number of task forces or scientific boards, including: Vice President of the Health City Institute; Scientific Director of the La Scossa Association; Board member of the European Foundation EYPROM; Expert Member of the Eurelectric Task Force on Investment; Expert Member of the Technical Secretariat for the Protection of Nature in the Italian Ministry of the Environment; Director at the Observatory on Energy Policy of the Einaudi Foundation. He has authored numerous publications on economic themes, particularly with regard to policy and regulation of the energy market and infrastructural services and the governance of the institutions, and his opinions and analysis has featured in major Italian newspapers.[/tp]

[tp no_translate]Sandro Mendonça is Professor at the Department of Economics, ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute.
He currently serves as Executive Board Member of ANACOM, the Portuguese communications regulator.
He is a German Marshall Fund Fellow since 2012. He was a visiting scholar of King’s College, London, in the Fall of 2012. Since 2012 he teaches and supervises at the doctoral programs of the Southern Medical University and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He is Invited Professor at ISEG, the University of Lisbon since 2012. He served as Director of the Economics undergraduate programme at ISCTE Business School for two terms.
He was Scientific Manager of “Science and Society” at CYTED (the Ibero-American program for science and technology) from January 2014 until December 2017, and remained an advisor to the Secretary General. He cooperated with CEN (European Committee for Standardization) and EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Rights Office). He was deputy member of the Management Committee of OceanGov (European Network on “Ocean Governance for Sustainability”, sponsored by the European Science Foundation).
His research and consultancy work mostly focus on innovation and industrial policy. He is also active in the fields of strategic foresight and conflict research.[/tp]

[tp no_translate]Riccardo Genghini is a lawyer and a 1983 graduate of the Università Federico II of Naples. He has been involved in the drafting of the European legislation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market (eIDAS Regulation 2014/910/EU). Since 1999 he has been actively involved in drafting European legal and technical rules for digital signatures, electronic trust services and related technical standards. From 2001 to 2004 he was Chairman of the CEN/ISSS E-Sign Workshop (the European Committee for Standardization – Information Society Standardization System), based in Brussels. Under his chairmanship, protection profiles for electronic secure signature creation devices were approved in accordance with Directive 1999/93/EC (CWA 14167-1 & 2, CWA 14169).
Since 2004 he has chaired the Electronic Signatures and Infrastructures (ESI) committee of the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI).
From 2001 to 2006 he was Chairman of the STT Commission (Security of Telematic Transactions), in Italy, which implemented the first set of European standards for digital signatures.
He is an advisor to several European governments and multinational organisations in the fields of digital signatures and e-government services.[/tp]

[tp no_translate]Karen Melchior is a Danish member of the European Parliament representing The Danish Social Liberal Party. Her parliamentary activities include coordinating the Renew Europe-members of the European Committee on Legal Affairs. She is also part of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality. Furthermore, Melchior substitutes the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection. As a MEP Melchior is thoroughly invested in the legal work concerning technology and AI-regulation. As her parliamentary portfolio goes to show, she is especially concerned with consumer protection in the era of digitalization.[/tp]

[tp no_translate]Lorenzo Principali is the Director of the Digital Area at I-Com, the Institute for Competitiveness, where he focuses on digital media, web services and telco economics and trends. From 2007 to 2012 he worked as a researcher for the Institute for Media Economics, providing analysis and consulting services for the main national and international operators. He won a research grant from Fondazione CRT for the Civil Society Young Talents Master, with a project on IPTV, and he acquired a Master’s degree in business administration at the Link Campus University of Malta. He conducted research and consulting services for Italian and international institutions such as the Ministry of Communication, the Italian Senate and the Council of Europe.[/tp]
