The conference aims to promote the debate on the role of natural gas in Italy's sustainable mobility strategy, which develops within the Eu regulatory framework. The initiative is in fact held close to the launch by the Council of Ministers of the draft legislative decree implementing Directive 2014/94 / EU on the construction of an infrastructure for alternative fuels (DAFI). In the decree, gas is identified as one of the main vectors of sustainable mobility, along with electricity and hydrogen.
The use of natural gas in transport, and more generally in road and sea transport, is in fact today in extraordinary favorable conditions, thanks to environmental parameters that are decidedly more sustainable than other fossil fuels and an infrastructural and industrial supply chain already ready for use, with marginal investments. A context that becomes even more favorable if we consider the possibility of using, combined with natural gas, biomethane, mixable in increasing percentages, and, tomorrow, hydrogen, produced from renewable sources.
