“SECURITY IN THE DIGITAL AGE. Europe at a croasroads”. This is the title of the Power Breakfast held on June 19th in our Brussels office.
After a brief introduction by the President of the Institute for Competitiveness (I-Com), Stefano da Empoli, it was the turn of the guest speaker, Ms. Despina Spanou, Director of “Digital Society, Trust and Cybersecurity”, DG CNECT, European Commission.
The digital revolution has transformed everyday life. Thanks to the Internet, connecting people across the world has never been as easy as it is today. Moreover, the IoT (Internet of Things) has led to the spread of a mass of smart devices for people and businesses. However, this relatively new way of living always accessible, everywhere and at every moment, has brought to light many new problems in terms of security, specifically cybersecurity.
The meeting has focused on the current challenges EU is facing and the steps needed to create a more comprehensive cooperative approach between the Commission, Member States and the private sector. At the same time, the EU will work at the international level to strengthen cooperation with international partners.
