Very interesting week for the dossiers at the attention of the diverse institutions of the Union. Important works in the ITRE Committee on the Energy Efficiency Directive and the Renewable Energy Directive and the European Health Data Space. The topics will also be on the agenda of the Working Groups. In addition, several informal ministerial meetings will be held in Stockholm, in particular defense, trade and development ministers will meet.
DIGITAL
Tuesday 7 march 2023. Central to the agenda of the Working Group on Telecommunications and Information Society will be the Gigabit Infrastructure Act, a regulation that will enable faster, cheaper and more effective deployment of Gigabit networks throughout the Union.
Thursday 9 March 2023. On the vote in the ITRE Committee is the draft report on the Regulation for the establishment of measures for a high common level of cybersecurity in the institutions, bodies, and organs of the Union signed by Finland’s Henna Virkkunen (EPP).
ENERGY
Tuesday 7 March 2023. In Brussels, the Energy Working Group will focus on Energy Communities, reports from the trilogue on the Energy Efficiency Directive and the Renewable Energy Directive. In addition, the Group will work on the Gas package and will continue on Thursday.
Thursday 9 March 2023. ITRE Committee will focus on the report of the negotiations on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Directive, whose rapporteurs are Danish Niels Fuglsang (S&D) and German Markus Pieper (EPP), respectively.
HEALTH
Monday 6 March 2023. The Public Health Working Group in 1+2 format will work on the European Heath Data Space, with work continuing into the next day. In addition, the health area will be affected by the activities of the Working Group on Atomic Issues, which will update on the SAMIRA (Strategic Agenda for Medical Ionising Radiation Applications) action plan, the EU’s first comprehensive plan of action to support safe, high-quality, and reliable use of radiological and nuclear technologies in health care.
Thursday 9 March 2023. The draft opinion on the European Health Data Space, authored by Cristian-Silviu Bușoi of Romania (EPP), will be considered in the ITRE Committee.
OTHER APPOINTMENTS
Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 March 2023. EU defense ministers will be in Stockholm to participate in an informal meeting in the framework of the Foreign Affairs (Defense) Council.
Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 March 2023. Remaining in the context of the Swedish presidency, EU development ministers will meet in Stockholm for an informal meeting of the Foreign Affairs (Development) Council.
Thursday 9 and Friday 10 March. Also in Stockholm, EU trade ministers will meet and participate in an informal meeting with discussions on current trade policy issues.
