The first week of September sees activities in Brussels resume in full swing. Of particular note are the activities of the ENVI Committe on various energy dossiers and on the supply of Critical Raw Materials, in addition to the vote on the report on EMFA in the CULT Commission.

DIGITAL

Monday 4 September 2023. On the agenda of the Working Group on TELCO is an exchange of views on the AI Act. The discussion will also continue on Thursday.

Thursday 7 September 2023. The CULT Committee will vote on the draft report on the European Media Freedom Act, with the rapporteur Sabine Verheyen (EPP) from Germany.

SUSTAINABILITY

Monday 4 September 2023. In the ENVI Committee there will be reports on the regulation for the reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector signed by the French Pascal Canfin (Renew) and the German Jutta Paulus (Verts/ALE).

Thursday 7 September 2023. On the agenda of the ENVI Commitee is the approval of the draft report on the regulation establishing a framework for ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials. Rapporteur on the file is Germany’s Nicola Beer (Renew). Approval is also expected for the regulation to improve the Union’s protection from market manipulation in the wholesale energy market signed by Maria da Graça Carvalho (EPP) from Portugal. This will be followed by a vote on the dossier to decide whether to open negotiations between the institutions.
