\u201cTHE N(EU) WAY TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE Challenges and Perspectives for Southern Europe<\/em>\u201d is the second DigitalTalk organized by PromethEUs held on 8 July on Google Meet.<\/p>\n

The event brought together more than 40 public and private stakeholders from four Southern-European countries (Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain) \u2013 EU and national Institutions representatives, companies, academic institutions, research and business organisations, trade and consumer associations and other relevant stakeholders \u2013 to discuss the EU approach proposed by the Commission and debate how the AI challenges can be addressed and finally met in their respective countries. How can the EU regain the lost ground in the AI race? Can Southern Europe lead the EU politically towards more integration and unity of action in this matter? How Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece have been developing their national strategies on AI? What are the common issues and the main priorities to address?<\/p>\n

The DigitalTalk will also be the occasion to present a preliminary version of the joint paper on AI developed by\u00a0I-Com, Institute for Competitiveness<\/a>\u00a0(Italy),\u00a0EsadeGeo \u2013 Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics<\/a>\u00a0(Spain) and\u00a0IOBE \u2013 Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research<\/a>\u00a0(Greece).<\/p>\n

The event was opened by\u00a0Stefano da Empoli<\/strong>, I-Com President,\u00a0Aggelos Tsakanikas<\/strong>, Scientific Advisor at IOBE \u2013 Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research and\u00a0Tirso Virg\u00f3s Varela<\/strong>, Researcher at EsadeGeo, who presented the PromethEUs joint paper.<\/p>\n

An interactive and stimulating panel followed, moderated by\u00a0Oscar Fernandez<\/strong>, Senior Researcher, EsadeGeo, with the participation of\u00a0Roberto Liscia<\/strong>, President, Netcomm;\u00a0Jo\u00e3o Castro<\/strong>, Head of Digital Experience Lab and Professor, Nova School of Business and Economics;\u00a0Cinzia Guido<\/strong>, Chief Operating Officer & Senior Digital Adviser, Confindustria EU Delegation;\u00a0Evangelia Kekeleki<\/strong>, Secretary-general of the Greek Consumer Protection Centre (KEPKA). After the Q&A session, which saw the interventions by Oreste Pollicino, Law Professor, Bocconi University; Cristiano Radaelli, Vice-President, Anitec-Assinform; Marco Pierani, Secretary General, Euroconsumers, it was the turn of\u00a0Javier Solana<\/strong>, President, EsadeGeo, to deliver the closing remarks.<\/p>\n
