The week of 2\u20136 February at the European institutions will be marked by meetings of the political groups and parliamentary committees in Brussels. Meanwhile, an informal meeting of the Council of the European Union, in its Competitiveness configuration, will take place in Lefkosia. Lastly, the College of Commissioners will convene for a workshop on competitiveness in preparation for the Informal EU leaders\u2019 Retreat scheduled for 12 February \u2014 an informal summit bringing together the Heads of State and Government of the Member States in Belgium.<\/p>\n
Monday 2 February.<\/strong> The Parliamentary Committee on Public Health (SANT) will meet in Brussels. On the occasion of World Cancer Day, MEPs will hold an exchange of views with experts on the fight against cancer. In addition, Neophytos Charalambides<\/strong>, Minister of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, will present to the SANT Committee priorities of the new Presidency of the Council. Lastly, MEPs will discuss with rapporteur Romana Jerkovi\u0107<\/strong> (S&D) the own initiative report on An\u00a0EU\u00a0cardiovascular\u00a0diseases\u00a0strategy.<\/em><\/p>\n Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 February.<\/strong> An informal meeting of Ministers for Competitiveness will take place in Lefkosia (Cyprus). Ministers from the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries, together with representatives of the European Commission, will also participate.<\/p>\n The agenda will focus on strengthening and integrating the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base<\/em>. It will also include a review of the Competitiveness Compass<\/em> one year after its publication.
