This week agenda will be marked by the European Parliament plenary session in Strasbourg. On the European Commission side, the pre-enlargement policy reviews and the revision of the Standardisation Regulation are expected. On the Council side, the Eurogroup meeting and the informal meeting of ministers responsible for development in Dublin will also be in focus.

SUSTAINABILITY
Tuesday 6 October. In plenary, MEPs are expected to vote on the report on the CO2 emission class of heavy-duty vehicles with trailers, which concerns EU rules on road charging and emissions classification, while clarifying and simplifying certain provisions. The rapporteur is Matteo Ricci (S&D–Italy), for the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN).

Wednesday 7 October. Plenary will hold a debate on ensuring the promotion of clean energy in European policies, with statements by the Council and the Commission. The exchange is expected to focus on the role of EU policies in supporting the energy transition, industrial competitiveness and security of supply.

HEALTH
Wednesday 7 October. Plenary will discuss the report on psychosocial risks, stress and mental health at work, with recommendations to the Commission to strengthen prevention and worker protection. The rapporteur is Estelle Ceulemans (S&D–Belgium), for the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL).

OTHER EVENTS
Monday 6 October. In plenary, a debate on foreign affairs issues is expected, in the presence of the Vice-President of the European Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The specific topic of the debate remains to be defined.

Monday 6 October. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is expected to present the pre-enlargement policy reviews, aimed at assessing the adaptation of EU policies ahead of future enlargements and their institutional, financial and strategic implications. On the same day, the Commission is also expected to present the revision of the Standardisation Regulation, under the responsibility of Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy Stéphane Séjourné.

Thursday 8 October. The Eurogroup will meet, bringing together the finance ministers of the euro area Member States to discuss the coordination of economic and fiscal policies in the single currency area.

Thursday 8 – Friday 9 October (Dublin). The informal meeting of EU ministers responsible for development, in the Foreign Affairs/Development format, will take place in Dublin, hosted by Irish Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora Neale Richmond. The meeting will focus on the challenges facing development cooperation and on the EU’s role as a reliable partner committed to mutually beneficial partnerships with partner countries. The exchange will have a strategic character ahead of the formal Foreign Affairs Council/Development meeting scheduled for 1 December in Brussels.
