On November 12, I-Com hosted an insightful talk, “Back to the Future: The Potential of Nuclear Power in European Decarbonisation”, at our Brussels office.
This event brought together EU policymakers, industry experts, and energy stakeholders to explore nuclear energy’s role in Europe’s journey to net-zero.
Special thanks to Massimo Garribba, Deputy Director-General for Coordination of Euratom Policies at the European Commission, for his keynote address, which emphasized nuclear power’s potential as a reliable, low-carbon energy source that complements renewables in a balanced energy mix.
The discussion highlighted recent advancements in nuclear technology, especially Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), which offer adaptable and cost-effective options to drive Europe’s sustainable energy transition. Participants also explored nuclear power’s strategic role in enhancing energy security, a crucial factor amid current geopolitical challenges.
We extend our gratitude to all participants for contributing to this valuable dialogue.
