On July 8, I-Com Brussels brought together European Commission, stakeholders and companies’ representative for a constructive and insightful dialogue on the future of AI Act implementation, the upcoming Code of Practice (CoP) and the prominent “stop-the-clock” debate.
The lively conversation focused on four main aspects:
- The Code of Practice and its implementation timeline
- How to ensure that companies and stakeholders are provided with legal certainty and a complete normative framework, including clear guidelines, standards and sufficient time to comply in a rapidly evolving regulatory and technological environment.
- The path toward a Digital Omnibus and the role of simplification in the EU’s digital transformation: specifically, how to incorporate the AI Act into the upcoming Digital Simplification Omnibus.
- AI Governance that is fit for enforcement, addressing multilevel and multisectoral coordination to ensure effective oversight.

They were able to bring a wide range of perspectives to the roundtable, managing to find grounds of agreement on the future of AI, digitalisation and simplification in Europe, as well as more debated points. In this sense, practically everyone agreed that calling the entire AI Act into question would introduce significant uncertainty after years of work and anticipation since the proposal’s initial release.
