The week of 27–31 October will be marked by MEPs’ external activities in their constituencies, alongside a rich programme of events hosted in Copenhagen under the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. In Brussels, Commissioner for Space and Defence Andrius Kubilius will welcome the Italian Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.
DIGITAL
Tuesday 28 October. The conference “Space for European Resilience. Rising to the Collective Challenge” will be held in Brussels under the auspices of the Danish Presidency of the EU Council. Organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI), with the support of the European Commission. This initiative will offer an opportunity to discuss the dual role of space technologies in Europe’s security and resilience, in view of the new 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework.
Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 October. As part of the activities of the Danish Presidency the Beyond GovTech 2025 summit will be held in Copenhagen. The event will bring together public decision-makers, digital experts, and private sector representatives to discuss digital resilience, technological leadership, and governance, with a focus on innovation and cooperation in support of European digital sovereignty.
From 29 to 31 October. The 23rd ASEM Informal Seminar on “Human Rights and Artificial Intelligence” will be held in Copenhagen. Organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), the event will bring together representatives from governments, civil society, institutions, and academia from Asia and Europe to discuss the ethical and legal implications of artificial intelligence on human rights.
SUSTAINABILITY
Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 October. The European Water Innovation 2025 will take place in Copenhagen, organised by the Danish Presidency of the EU Council. The event will gather policymakers, experts, and sector representatives to discuss innovation, sustainable water resource management, and climate resilience in Europe.
On the same days, the Council will meet in Luxembourg in its AGRIFISH configuration. The agenda includes a debate on the simplification of Green Architecture, the set of tools and rules designed to improve the environmental and climate performance of European agriculture, as an integral part of the post-2027 Common Agricultural Policy.
HEALTH
Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 October. The Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products (COMP) will meet in Copenhagen in an event organised by the Danish Medicines Agency. An internal body of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the committee is responsible for recommending the orphan designation for medicines. The meeting aims to foster dialogue on European regulations relating to this designation, granted by the regulatory authority, to drugs for the treatment of rare diseases.
On the same days, in Copenhagen, the “High Level Policy Conference on the Future of Ageing and Long-Term Care” will be held. The conference will convene institutional representatives and stakeholders to discuss the future of ageing and the opportunities and challenges that long-term care systems pose for Europe.
Monday 27 October. Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, will receive Prof. Thomas Lüscher, President of the European Society of Cardiology. The meeting represents an opportunity to discuss issues concerning European public health.
OTHER EVENTS
Wednesday 29 October. Commissioner Andrius Kubilius will receive the Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso. The meeting will be dedicated to promoting European industry, competitiveness and strengthening synergies between EU institutions and the Italian production system.
Thursday 30 and Friday 31 October. In Copenhagen, the Council of the European Union, in its Foreign Affairs configuration, will host an informal meeting of the EU Political Directors to discuss the main challenges of the Union’s foreign policy, with particular attention to security, international cooperation, and regional stability.
Friday 31 October. In Brussels, the European Commission will organise an Implementation Dialogue on the experience of stakeholders in accessing funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), chaired by Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Economy and Productivity. This initiative aims to simplify and improve the implementation of European policies, promoting direct dialogue between institutions, Member States and public and private sectors representatives on challenges, good practices and possible procedural improvements within the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) framework.
