The Future of HTA in the European Union. From national best practices to EU cooperation

Wednesday 08 February 2017 ore 14:30 - 17:15

European Parliament, Room ASP 1E3

Last Wednesday, February 8th, I-Com hosted a public conference on “The Future of HTA in the European Union. From national best practise to EU cooperation”. The event took place between 2:30 pm and 5:15 pm at the European Parliament, Room ASP1E3.  For the occasion I-Com presented a Paper on “HTA in the European Union: state of art and future scenario” which explored the compatibility between most significant national experiences of HTA and the purpose of an European deeper harmonization.

Indeed, the joint action for HTA, promoted by the European Commission in its 2016 work programme, stresses the need for an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to healthcare systems across Europe. The debate that has followed through the I-Com paper presentation gathered together European Commission’s officials, MEPs, Patient’s coalitions and industries’ representatives. The strategic aim of the initiative was to give some relevant policy recommendation about how an integrated assessment process might be able to reduce fragmentation and divergences across Europe, supporting shared deliberations and common final policy decisions on the impact of technologies and treatments.
