Martedì 7 novembre, EER – European Energy Retailers – e I-Com hanno organizzato la conferenza “SHAPING THE FUTURE OF THE ENERGY MARKET – The role of independent retailers and new service providers in a European clean energy market”. L’evento ha avuto luogo a Bruxelles, presso il Parlamento Europeo (stanza JAN 6Q1) dalle ore 18:30 alle 20:30, ed è stato ospitato dal deputato europeo Massimiliano SALINI.

Durante la conferenza alcuni tra i più rilevanti stakeholder hanno analizzato gli aspetti relativi alla transizione verso un sistema energetico più pulito e decentralizzato. Particolare attenzione è stata riservata alle opportunità derivanti dai modelli di business innovativi legati all’energia verde e al ruolo dei fornitori indipendenti all’interno dell’UE.

L’evento ha offerto l’occasione di mettere in luce le attività del nuovo network EER – European Energy Retailers, che persegue il potenziamento della concorrenza nel mercato dell’energia e il conseguimento di condizioni di mercato eque per i nuovi operatori che offrono soluzioni energetiche.

On Tuesday 7th November, EER – European Energy Retailers – and I-Com organized the public conference “SHAPING THE FUTURE OF THE ENERGY MARKET- The role of independent retailers and new service providers in a European clean energy market”. The event took place at the European Parliament (room JAN 6Q1) from 18:30 to 20:30 and it was hosted by MEP Massimiliano SALINI.

During the conference some of the most relevant EU stakeholders debated about the transition to a cleaner and more decentralized energy system. The emphasis was put on new opportunities arising from innovative business models in light of the clean energy package and the future role of independent energy and solution providers in the EU.

The event offered an introduction to the activities planned by the newly formed network EER – European Energy Retailers, that pursues the enhancement of effective competition in the internal energy market and the achievement of fair market conditions for new entrants offering energy and service-related solutions.

Bianca BARTH
EU Policy Director, bne – Association of Energy Market Innovators, Germany

Bio

Bianca Barth joined bne as EU Policy Director in September 2014. In this role, she represents the interests of grid-independent energy suppliers and energy service providers located in Germany.  bne members are committed to a modern and flexible electricity market design allowing for truly competitive solutions. Focusing on advocating rules for fair competition, Bianca actively works with European policy makers, regulators, industry representatives and other stakeholders to enable diverse energy markets. Prior to her current responsibilities, she led an EU project on grid integration of Photovoltaics (PV) into Europe’s distribution grids at the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar). She further gathered relevant experience in the energy field while spending four years in Washington, DC working as a Research Manager at the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA).

Guido BORTONI
President, Italian Regulatory Authority for Electricity, Gas and Water

Bio

Guido Pier Paolo Bortoni (born in 1960) studied engineering in Pavia and he attended a postgraduate course at the MIP. After working in the US and in France, he started his professional experience  at the Italian Regulatory Authority for Electricity, Gas and Water, where, in 2007, he became DG of the market area. He collaborated with the Italian Ministry of Economics and he is a member of the Board of Directors of the ACER. Currently, he is the President of the Italian Regulatory Authority for Electricity, Gas and Water.

Marc BOUDIER
President, French Independent Association for Electricity and Gas (AFIEG)

Bio

Marc Boudier, graduate from Sciences Po Paris and the National School of Administration (ENA – 1981) started in the external economic relations of the Ministry of Finances, prior to becoming in 1984 advisor to the minister of industry and external trade and from 1985 to 1990 advisor for international economic affairs to President François Mitterrand. He became director in charge of the Central and Western Europe zone at the International Direction of Vivendi Group. In 2001, he joined EDF where he was appointed Director Europe. In charge of the involvement and the development of the group in most of European countries, he served as member of the board of directors and member of the supervisory board of several European energy groups among which ENBW, Germany’s third company in the sector, Edison, 2nd in Italy and as VP of Swiss company Alpiq. He created in 2011 AMB Senior Advisors, a company specialized in activities related to energy efficiency alongside with consulting on M&A in the energy sector in Europe and investing in renewable energies. Marc Boudier is also a senior advisor of First State Investment Fund and chairs the Board of Coriance, a French district heating company. He has been chairing the Board of AFIEG since 2013.

Bio

Antonio is Industrial Engineer and has dedicated his professional career to the energy sector including regulation, market analysis, trading and risk management. He has worked as advisor in Deloitte as well as in big utilities such as Iberdrola and Endesa. Currently he is COO of Fenie Energia a Spanish independent retailer and he is part of ACIE the Spanish National Association of Independent Retailers.

Anna COLUCCI

Bio

Anna Colucci is currently head of the Retail markets, Coal and Oil Unit. She joined DG Energy on 1st February 2016. From 2009 to 2012 she was head of the Strategy and Delivery unit in DG Competition and subsequently managed the State aid unit dealing with Post, Health and other services. Her interest in competition policy, however, dates back to 2002 when she joined the State aid unit in DG Move (transport policy), and subsequently became the coordinator for competitions files in the transport sector. From 1994 to 2002 she was involved in other network industries as she worked in the aviation Directorate of DG Move. She was, amongst other, in charge of the European Aviation Safety Agency. Ms Colucci has a degree in Political Sciences from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Strasbourg, a master in European Studies (political science) from the College of Europe of Bruges and a diploma in International Relations Studies from the Johns Hopkins University Bologna Center.

Bio

Stefano is the president and principal policy analyst at I-Com, the Institute for Competitiveness, a think tank based in Rome and Brussels which he founded in 2005. He currently teaches political economy and economic policy at the Roma Tre University, in Rome. Stefano is a graduate of the Coripe Consortium for Research and Continuing Education in Economics (Piemonte, Italy), where he received a Masters Degree in Economics and the George Mason University (Virginia, USA) where he obtained his MA (Economics).

Stefano has served in key advisory or expert positions on a number of taskforces or scientific boards, including:

  • Director at the Observatory on Energy Policy of the Einaudi Foundation;
  • Expert Member of the Technical Secretariat for the Protection of Nature in the Italian Ministry of the Environment;
  • Expert Member of the Eurelectric Task Force on Investment;
  • Scientific Director of the La Scossa Association;
  • Board member of the European Foundation EYPROM;
  • Vice President of the Health City Institute.

He has authored numerous publications on economic themes, particularly with regard to policy and regulation of the energy market and infrastructural services and the governance of the institutions, and his opinions and analysis has featured in major Italian newspapers including Il Foglio, il Sole24 Ore, Huffington Post Italia and more. Stefano has also undertaken study and consultancy assignments for Italian and international public institutions, including the Senate of the Republic, the Department for EU policies, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the OECD, leading Italian and foreign companies and non-profit organizations.

Patricia de Suzzoni is Director, High Level Expert at CRE, the independent French energy regulatory authority. At the European level, she is chair of the Customers and Retail Markets Working Group of the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER). At the international level, she is co-chair of the Virtual Working Group on Technology Change of ICER, the International Confederation of Energy Regulators, a voluntary framework for cooperation between energy regulators from around the globe. Working in the energy sector since 2004, Ms de Suzzoni previously held various managerial positions in the telecoms industry, in Europe and abroad, for 20 years.

Michele Governatori, 45, is Director of Public and Regulatory Affairs for Axpo Italia. Before joining the Axpo group in 2004, he has been working for Eni, Edison, and for the Italian state-owned Single Buyer of electricity. After his BA in Economics at Bocconi University in 1996, he completed the Master in management of the Energy and Environment Industry of Eni Corporate University. From 2013 to 2017 he has been President for the Italian Energy Traders and Wholesalers Association (AIGET).

Mrs. Huidobro has been professor at ICADE (University of Comillas) of Economic Theory and latter joined the Public Administration in the special branch of Commercial and Economics Advisers. She reached the highest responsibility of the Energy Administration as Director General of Energy of the Ministry of Industry and Energy from 1990 to 1997. In September 1997 she was designated Vicepresident of REE until 1998. Since October 1997 to July 2009 she has been President and CEO of OMEL the Spanish Power Exchange. She was also President of the Board of APEx (World Association of Power Exchanges), and member of the Governing Board of EuroPEX , as well as  Member of the OMIP Board.  In September 2009, she was designed member of the Board and operations General Manager of the Villar Mir Group Energy Division.  Since March 2013, she is the CEO of the Villar Mir Group Energy Division.

Bio

Johan Öhnell is chairman of the Swedish organisation Independent Energy Retailers since 2003. He has been CEO of Telge Energi, an electricity retailer, from the deregulation of the electricity market in Sweden from 1996 to 2011. He is currently the CEO of the solar company Solkompaniet, which projects and builds larger solar systems in Sweden.

Bio

Born in Soresina, Italy, in 1973, he received his Master’s Degree in law from the Statale University, Milan. During his university studies he was involved in the political life of the university, first being elected to the Academic Senate, then serving as President of the Conference of Students, and finally joining the Regional Committee for the Coordination of the Universities of the Lombardy region. From 1998 to 2000, he joined the President’s staff in the Lombardy region. From 2000 to 2009, he worked as a project manager in a private company. In 2006, he was appointed Vice-President of the Società Cremasca Servizi S.p.A., and in 2007, member of the board of Linea Group Holding and of Linea Ambiente Spa. He was elected President of the Province of Cremona in 2009. MEP since 2014.

Frauke THIES
Executive Director, SEDC

Bio

Since September 2015, Frauke is Executive Director of the Smart Energy Demand Coalition SEDC. The SEDC is the European industry association dedicated to making the demand side a smart and interactive part of the energy value chain. Frauke has been actively involved in European energy policy matters in Brussels since 2005, where she held different positions at Greenpeace and the European Photovoltaic Industry Association, SolarPower Europe. She also worked on secondments in Washington, D.C. and in New Delhi, India. Frauke holds a Master degree in Environmental Sciences from Leuphana University, Germany, and an Executive MBA from Vlerick Business School, Belgium.
