[tp lang=”it” not_in=”en”]Il 28 novembre si è svolta la conferenza pubblica “New Mobility”, organizzata dall’Istituto per la competitività, presso il Parlamento europeo.

Durante questo evento, I-Com ha presentato uno studio che dedica particolare attenzione a temi come le connected cars, l’IoT, il 5G, self-driving vehicles e le sinergie industriali a cavallo tra i settori dell’energia e della mobilità, prima di passare ad una discussione sui carburanti alternativi. La conferenza pubblica, che rispecchia la struttura dello studio, era composta da due panel. Il primo panel “Connected Cars & 5G” si è concentrato su come i nuovi sviluppi ICT modelleranno il futuro della mobilità. Nel secondo panel, con il titolo di “Energy and Sustainability in the Transport Sector”, la discussione si è spostata sui combustibili alternativi, l’elettrico, sul ruolo del gas naturale e sulla ricerca e sviluppo per raggiungere una mobilità sostenibile.

I-Com study[/tp][tp lang=”en” not_in=”it”]The Public Conference “New Mobility” organized by the Institute for Competitiveness, took place on Wednesday 28th November, at the European.

During this event, I-Com presented a study devoting particular attention to topics such as connected cars, the IoT, the 5G, self-driving vehicles and the industrial synergies between the energy and the mobility sectors, before turning to a discussion on alternative fuels. The public conference, mirroring the structure of the paper, was composed of two different panels. The first panel “Connected Cars & 5G” focused on how new ICT developments will shape the future of mobility. The second panel, with the title of “Energy and Sustainability in the Transport Sector” moved the discussion to alternative fuels, energy, the role of natural gas and R&D in achieving sustainable mobility.

Bio

[tp no_translate] Greg has been with T&E since 2012. He was previously the director of Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, a UK public-private partnership promoting the shift to clean vehicles and fuels. He has also worked as a non-executive director for the UK Government’s Renewable Fuels Agency and Cenex, a centre of excellence for low carbon technologies. At T&E, Greg leads the clean vehicles team, working on vehicle regulation and testing issues. A chemist by training, Greg describes himself as a “pragmatic environmentalist.” [/tp]

Alessandro Bartelloni FuelsEurope – Policy Director Alessandro joined FuelsEurope in September 2011, and is responsible for its advocacy activities. He is based at the FuelsEurope office in Brussels. After graduating in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pisa, he joined ENI in 1986, gaining an extensive international experience in many fields of the Refining & Marketing sector of the oil industry. He has been refinery technologist in Italy (Livorno) and in Germany (Ingolstadt), then Project & Investment Planner in the ENI Headquarters in Rome. Thereafter he held the position of Operating and Planning Director in the Czech Refining Company (Czech Republic). In 2000 he relocated to the USA, as CEO of American Agip, an affiliate of ENI engaged in trading of oil products and marketing of lubricants. He then covered the position of CEO in Agip Deutschland, the German commercial affiliate of ENI R&M, with activities in retail (petrol stations), wholesale and refining (as shareholder in the JV refineries of Schwedt and Vohburg/Neustadt). He then went back to ENI in Italy, first as Retail Business Development and M&A Head for Europe, and then as Chief Technical Executive in the Livorno Refinery.[/tp]

[tp no_translate]Stefan Back has more than 30 years experience in transport policy and has held several positions in the Ministry of Transport in Sweden as well as General secretary in Swedish international freight association (SIFA). He has also European experience as former member of the board in CLECAT. Since 2010 he has a position as Director sustainable logistics in Transportföretagen (Swedish Confederation of Transport Enterprises, formerly TransportGruppen) in Sweden, an umbrella association with more than 11000 member companies in all modes of transport. He is a member of the European Economic & Social Committee since 2010 and has been rapporteur on many important transport related opinions. He was 2012-2015 also chairman of the Permanent Study Group on Transport White Paper Implementation.[/tp]

Michal Boni holds a PhD from the University of Warsaw where he lectured in the Department of Polish Culture for many years. Involved in the ‘Solidarity’ underground movement since 1980 and a member of the national authorities of ‘Solidarity’ since 1989, he became Chairman of the Mazowsze Region Management Board in 1990. He served as Minister of Labour and Social Policy in 1991 and from 1992 until 1993 as Secretary of State in the same ministry responsible for labour market policy. Between 1998 and 2001 he was the Chief Advisor to the Minister of Labour and Social Policy. From 2008 he served as Minister- Head of Strategic Advisors to the Prime Minister Donald Tusk and from 2011 until 2013 as Minister of Administration and Digitisation of Poland.In 2016 Michal Boni was awarded a MEP award in category research and innovation.[/tp]

[tp no_translate]Alessandro Coda graduated with full marks in Electronic Engineering at the Turin Polytechnic in May 1987, followed by various positions at the FIAT Research Centre, in Italy, and at FIAT Auto where he worked as General Manager for Methodologies, Intellectual Properties and Regulations (2004-2005) and for Innovation Projects (2001-2003). On October 3 2016, Alessandro Coda joined CLEPA, taking up the new role of Chief Technology Officer. Before joining CLEPA, he served, since 2006, as Research Coordinator and temporarily as Acting Director at EUCAR (European Council for Automotive R&D) in Brussels, where he coordinated the research and innovation activities of the European vehicle manufacturers.[/tp]

Bio

[tp no_translate]Stefano is the president and principal policy analyst at I-Com, the Institute for Competitiveness, a think tank based in Rome and Brussels which he founded in 2005. He currently teaches political economy and economic policy at the Roma Tre University, in Rome. Stefano is a graduate of the Coripe Consortium for Research and Continuing Education in Economics (Piemonte, Italy), where he received a Masters Degree in Economics and the George Mason University (Virginia, USA) where he obtained his MA (Economics).

 

Stefano has served in key advisory or expert positions on a number of taskforces or scientific boards, including:

  • Director at the Observatory on Energy Policy of the Einaudi Foundation;
  • Expert Member of the Technical Secretariat for the Protection of Nature in the Italian Ministry of the Environment;
  • Expert Member of the Eurelectric Task Force on Investment;
  • Scientific Director of the La Scossa Association;
  • Board member of the European Foundation EYPROM;
  • Vice President of the Health City Institute.

He has authored numerous publications on economic themes, particularly with regard to policy and regulation of the energy market and infrastructural services and the governance of the institutions, and his opinions and analysis has featured in major Italian newspapers including Il Foglio, il Sole24 Ore, Huffington Post Italia and more. Stefano has also undertaken study and consultancy assignments for Italian and international public institutions, including the Senate of the Republic, the Department for EU policies, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the OECD, leading Italian and foreign companies and non-profit organizations.[/tp]

Based in Brussels from 1999 until 2011, she was responsible for horizontal coordination of the Croatian accession negotiations. In 2011, she moved back to Zagreb and was responsible for setting up and management of the system of national coordination of European Affairs. In 2015 she became Assistant Minister for Europe in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

 

On 1 December 2016, she became Deputy Director-General in the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, responsible for coordinating the activities related to investment, innovative and sustainable transport, in support of President Juncker’s political priorities.[/tp]

[tp no_translate] Peter is managing the Commission’s policy on 5G communication systems and the related research and innovation programme. Before his appointment as Head of Unit he was managing the office of the Director General of DG CONNECT, Roberto Viola, coordinating the Commission’s digital policy initiatives. The portfolio included Digital Single Market, Broadband Policy, Telecoms, Media and Online Policy, the Copyright Reform as well as the EU ICT Research and Innovation Programme. Between 2010 and 2014 he was Head of Sector “Spectrum Policy”, was penholder of main elements of the Commission proposal on the Telecom Single Market and the Roaming regulation, and was responsible for the implementation of the EU telecom rules in Germany and Austria. Between 2005 and 2010 he coordinated the EU R&D programme leading to the 4G mobile communications standards. Before joining the European Commission in 2004 he has occupied several engineering and management positions in industry, academia and start-ups. He holds engineering and doctoral degrees from RWTH Aachen University, Germany. [/tp]

Anne-Lise Thieblemont is Senior Director of Global Technology Policy for Government Affairs at Qualcomm. She oversees Qualcomm’s global technology policy and government relations, focusing in particular on automotive and security. In this role, she is responsible for innovation, technology, spectrum, regulatory, standardization, and security policies in new industry verticals such as automotive, IoT, security, at the intersection between public policy, business strategy, and wireless ecosystems.

Anne-Lise interfaces with Government economic, trade and investment agencies and Qualcomm business activities such as the Organization for Economic Co-Operation & Development (OECD). Anne-Lise has an influential role in global government and industry organizations, such as the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT), as well as the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA).

Anne-Lise holds an engineering degree from Telecom ParisTech in France, with a focus on networks and signal and image processing in new digital media as well as on telecommunications economics. She also holds a Master of Science in Fundamental Physics from the Paris XI University. [/tp]
