On 4th July, I-Com hosted a Power Breakfast on the Proposal for a Regulation and the Recommendation relating to the European Media Freedom Act. The event saw the participation of: Marco Campomenosi, MEP, Shadow Rapporteur on the European Media Freedom Act and IMCO Committee member; David Ek, Counsellor for Culture and Media at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU; Giuseppe Abbamonte, Director Media Policy at DG CONNECT.
Aiming to contribute to the debate around the proposed Regulation on the European Media Freedom Act, the discussion has delved into the rights and duties of Media Service Providers (MSP) and their relationship with Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) to ensure, on one hand, media’s independence, pluralism and, on the other, consistency with current in field digital regulation.
