Thursday 01 December 2022 ore 17:30 - 18:30

FTI Consulting

On Thursday 1 December 2022 (17:30-18:30 CET), I-Com together with FTI Consulting will host the policy roundtable entitled “Protecting EU consumers in the digital age: Are horizontal consumer law instruments still adequate to safeguard consumers online?”.

The event will see the participation of Ms. Egelyn Braun (Legal Officer, DG Justice, European Commission) as a keynote speaker, and feature a panel discussion among experts from academia, the private sector and consumer associations. The aim is to promote the debate on the public consultation the European Commission is about to launch concerning the evaluation of three fundamental pieces of EU consumer policy legislation – the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (UCPD), the Consumer Rights Directive (CRD), and the Unfair Contract Terms Directive (UCTD). The event will provide a forum for relevant stakeholders – representatives from EU institutions, research and business organisations, trade and consumer associations, as well as industry – to take stock on whether current horizontal EU consumer law mechanisms are sufficient to provide a high degree of consumer protection in the digital environment.

The event will take place at FTI Consulting’s new office in Avenue des Arts 56 in Brussels.
